Geosynthetic Clay Liners (GCL)

GCLs are composed of a granular layer of sodium bentonite clay encapsulated between two needle-punched geotextiles. When hydrated, the granules swell up to 15 times of their initial volume, forming a watertight layer that is equivalent to a clay thickness from 60 to 90 cm. Sealing of the joints is done by overlapping the panels, as a result, the installation does not require a specialized team.
